Jacob’s Creek, Two Hands Cabernet Sauvignon & Shiraz

Jacob’s Creek winery has had a long history in Australia. Started in 1847 by a Bavarian immigrant, Johann Gramp, it has become a leader in Australia’s wine industry. They may have been along for over a century and a half, but they still strive to innovate and create unique wines from Barossa Valley.

Their latest project is Jacob’s Creek Two Lands. The Two Lands, Australia and the USA bring together two award winning winemakers. Jacob’s Creek chief winemaker, Bernard Hicken and Napa Valley’s Ehren Jordan collaborate to craft Two Lands.   Hicken lends his expertise in Australian grapes and terroir and Jordan adds his technique of crafting boutique wines in California’s Napa Valley. This combination of expertise in winemaking adds a lush smoothness to the wines they produce together.

Jacob’s Creek, Two Lands, Cabernet Sauvignon, 2013 is deep garnet red in the glass. The nose is filled with blackberry, boysenberry, plum and even a hint of dark cacao. The lush palate is filled with dark berries with tart plum and soft smooth tannins. The finish balances the fruit forward start with bright acidity in the background for a long rich finish. Enjoy the Jacob’s Creek, Two Lands Cabernet Sauvignon, 2013 with a thick steak off the grill with roasted beets, carrots, and sweet potatoes.

Jacob’s Creek, Two Lands, Shiraz, 2013 is garnet red with purple highlights. Aromas of blackberry, plum and dried tobacco fill the nose. The Two Lands Shiraz explodes with dark berries on the front of the palate; violets follow with some peppery notes lead to a long dry finish. The Two Lands Shiraz has a plush mouth feel with a smoothness that runs from first sip to the last. Compliment this wine with a juicy steak au poivre.

Jacob’s Creek, Two Land’s line of wines marry east & west in cooperative winemaking. These wines show off the terroir of Australia with hints of Napa Valley thrown itn, creating classic New World wines with a twist.
