In Munich, Germany the 182nd Oktoberfest is in full swing. Thousands of people hoisting liters of amber hued Oktoberfest lager in gigantic tents lay out by the brewers of Munich. If you don’t have any travel plans to Germany this weekend, there a solution much closer to home. There will be two Oktoberfest events in Miami this weekend.
This Friday, September 25th from 6:30-10:30pm Miami Beach Botanical Gardens is hosting their first annual Oktoberfest. Five local breweries will be sampling unlimited tastes of their brews. In addition to great beer, there will be a pig roast, lawn games as well as a six-piece polka band. For dessert, local bakeries will compete for the best Oktoberfest pie. Tickets are very wallet friendly, only $30 for members of the Miami Beach Botanical Gardens and $40 for non-members. Food, beer, and music for $40 on Miami Beach? This is definitely a bargain to take advantage of! Visit the Miami Beach Botanical Gardens’ website for additional information and ticket info.
Whole Foods Market Downtown Miami is having its own Oktoberfest celebration on Saturday September 26th from 1pm-3PM at their location at 299 SE Third Avenue. In the specialty foods department they will be sampling Oktoberfest and pumpkin spiced beers. This is a free event and will also feature German inspired treats as well as live music. Free food and beer? Sounds like a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
Make sure to take advantage of these great events. The weather will be a little warmer in Miami compared to Munich, but a fun atmosphere will make you feel like putting on your lederhosen and having a great time.
