When Pinot Grigio grapes hang onto the vine they start to develop a coppery tone on their skins. The wine maker at Attems lets the grape juice from the pinot grigio grapes to sit on the skins for 24 hours. This extra step prior to fermentation gives the Attems Romato its pretty pink color. The nose displays aromas of wild flowers, perfume, lime peel and summer peach. The rich palate has lively flavors of tart green apples, lemon-lime and tangerine. 15% of the wine ages in barriques which gives the Attems, Pinot Grigio, Romato a lush mouth feel.
