Skipper’s Creek, Powhatan, VA, 2015, is light golden yellow in the glass. The nose expresses notes of tropical fruit like banana, pineapple, and some red delicious apple. Those tropical fruits explode on the palate especially the pineapple. Lemon and lime sneak in under the pineapple and give this wine the acidity it needs to round out the palate. That welcome acidity leads to a long finish.
The Skipper’s Creek, Chardonnay, 2015 was aged in stainless steel, that’s what allows all of the fruit to come out and not be masked by any outside influences. Enjoy this wine with roasted red snapper topped by a tropical fruit salsa.
